Well after working in the vegetable garden all day it was time to deworm the ladies. Tried safegaurd for goats. Put 1/2cc on a bite size piece of bread. And let me say that was a chore making sure each only got 1 piece. Some took eternity to eat it. They knew something was up. This ain't normal bread. Well me and the wife got it done but she's completely clueless how she's going to redose in 10 days by herself as I will be out of town. #countrylife

I closed mine in the run and one by one took just one into the coop giving them the med on top of a teaspoon of cooked oatmeal. Then put that chicken in the main yard (free range style).
Yup also a chore. It did ensure each one only got one dose though.

Yeah I did the whole permethrin spray and picked them off the roost one by one. That's a chore as well. Especially George Jones. He doesn't like to bond well lol.

Worming is a pain, and I wish there were effective approved wormers here in the US! I have done Ivermectin individually, also not fun, or approved. Since then, with the permethrin spray while they are roosting so effective, I'm running fecal tests occasionally and only responding to major issues there. Haven't wormed the flock in two years, yeah! Mary

Yes. What's wrong with that?? I know a lot of people who deworm their whole flock if a few have em. They never have a problem.

Your are right that that has been common practice in livestock management for a long time, but now we know better as that and "routine worming schedules" have resulted in parasites being resistant to the treatments.
