Does anyone own these that can tell me about them? I am thinking about buying a pair each, but do not know anything about them. Will they fly off? How big would a pin need to be for each pair? Any other advice please.

Mandarins and wood ducks can fly unless they are pinioned but the need a top on there pen because they are excellent climbers we have both of them and there colorations any more questions

What type of feed is good? How big of a pin do they need? What is considered a common color? They will only br 2 of each. Can they be housed together?

first of all game bird feed is fine you can also geed them cracked corn ans secind of 20 by 20 size pen should be ok
and yes they can be hosed together

As Dylan duck said they are great flyers and climbers and have to have a top on their pen. Gamebird feed or layer pellets are fine for them. The bigger the pen the better as they are nervous birds and will fly up against the fence if you are in the pen. They can be kept together without having to worry about hybridization as mandarins have an extra chromosome. However, sometimes our wood duck drakes will prefer a mandarin hen and vice versa but all eggs will be infertile. The ducklings of both species can also be very hard to raise but if they calm down and start eating they do fine. Good luck with them they are great birds!

I hope the same was between lady Amherst and golden pheasants that hybridization was not possible

Let ne ask this. Is 70 a good price for a pair of madranin, and 60 for a pair of wood ducks? I am really debating the idea of getting some.

Where do you get the extra chromosome in mandarins? I know the literature and that is not true...Give me a literature citation for that...
