Please help! My mandarin duck broke its leg, i’m not sure how or how many days it’s been because i’ve been away for a few days now (don’t worry they have constant access to food and clean water) so it could’ve been broken for a few hours or 5 days. I need to know what to do and how to help him ASAP!! So far all I did was seperate him but I don’t know what else to do, any vets around me cost $250 for just an exam and $550 for an x ray and are over an hour away!

It looks like you've done a great job on separating him which can help with preventing further injury or bullying. Animals have an amazing ability to bounce back from injuries that we think will be life altering. With the possibility of the break happening a few days ago, it may still be loose enough if you wanted to try a splint to help support him instead of him using his wing. The issue I could see with this, would be that it may not allow him to settle down into a normal position.

In the event you do want to try this, you will likely need a second hand so you can reposition the leg to try and line up the ends of the broken bones before placing the splint. Probably the best case would be to continue as you are and although he will walk with a limp, the break will eventually heal and he will hopefully be able to live comfortably.
