Mandarin Duck thread ( for posting pictures and discussing)

Hey guys going to look at the other mandarins today, hoping i can get one on hold till it gets about 8 to 10 weeks, i don't know if he'll let me hold one that long since the wild type babies are only about a week and he sells them starting at three weeks (which i'm never getting any that young ever again) so I'm hoping he'll just keep it till it gets a lot older

Also Sky is doing great and is still in love with the call duckling

Okay I'm getting my 2nd duckling about 2 weeks from now

I would try vent sexing the duckling u have now and the one u are about to get that way u will have a better chance of getting a pair!

Oh i wasn't going to breed them, also if i were to vent sex it would be very stressful for the babies

I vent sexed my day old baby mallards and they are fine! There are several videos on youtube how to do it! Its not stressful for them!

yeah but baby mandarins can die from stress

The stress won't kill them picking them up and sexing them is a lot different than say a dog attack

Yes major stress can kill them. Maybe you should wait a little longer

Nah whatever Sky is I'm happy and it'll be okay, and whatever the other baby will be I'll be happy with that
