I have a three-year-old female mandarin duck. Her friend recently passed away and I am looking to rehome her to someone who has an established flock. I live in Northern California in the Mendocino county region. This post is to put out feelers to see if there is anybody close by who is willing to introduce her to their flock. I am willing to drive her to a good home. Thank you.

I live in the Sierra Foothills. If you don't find a home for her, I would be willing!

I have 4 ducks right now who live with my 12 chickens. Right now, they are in an 80 sq ft coop (they have a duckie house, but prefer to he with the chickens) and a 200 sq ft covered run that opens into a 500 sq ft yard with a pool and forage area. Everything is covered and surrounded by electric.

We're building them a larger area, though, which will have 2x the forage area. I've always wanted a wood duck. I was planning on getting one later on down the line after the new place was done because it's bit tight now, but if you have trouble homing her somewhere closer to where you are, I am game! We could even meet partway, if that would help. Just let me know! We'll be done with the new area within a month or two, depending on the weather.

I forgot to add that my ducks are all different breeds of domestic ducks (females). I know some folks have reported that their wood ducks prefer other wild ducks. Others say theirs do great with domestic ducks if they've been around each other before. That's part of the reason I say I'll be happy to bring her into my flock if you can't find a more ideal situation. Gotta do what's best for your girl!
