Mandarin Ducks info/post pics of yours

I really want to get a pair of Mandarin Ducks, i think there reallly pretty and i want to get a pair to breed some. I live in Maine. can they live in colder wheather if there in a coop with straw?? and is it hard to breed them? please post picture of you Mandarins....

I live in ND and I doubt you get as cold as we do and these birds have wintered just fine. I am new to Mandarins but I do have 5 pairs and am hoping to get some ducklings this spring.

They are a very winter hardy bird. Keep in mind that they are native to siberia and northern china, which are very cold regions of the world. They will do fine in your area. I dont have any handy photos of my mandarins, but Ive got a video of mine on my web page under the "blog" link. I've got two regular pairs and one white pair. They are an enjoyable little bird.
