Their first fall... Their close relative, the wood duck can be fully colored in late sep, early oct. I imagine they can be as well. Great looking birds! They should be going through a molt right now and will look kinda drab til september ish...

oh ok well mine had some colorful ones on its head in the spring then he lost them all
and I thought that was wierd but guess not!
