I bught a pair of mandarins this past summer and they are supposed to be a year old this spring. I have a nest box in their pen but she(the hen) hasn't really showed any interest in the box. About a week ago I found a busted egg on the ground in the pen:(, so I was hoping she was going to start nesting, but she still hasn't layed any more eggs. How long does it take for them to lay a whole clutch? And how can I get her to nest in the box? Any info or help will be great. Thanks!

I had thought about that possibility, but I couldn't find anything or any sign of her building a nest. Would she not lay if she feels pressured? Like by another duck or even by me?

Hi there.
You will want 2-3 nest boxes per pair as they like the variety an choose their favourite. Even then you got to hope the male is doing the business because its likely her eggs will not be fertile first time.
Wait about a week or two with the new boxes in and you'll be supprised. Make sure they have 4" soft bedding and some hay.
Good luck
