Greetings, all!

Does anyone here have good experience with a manual pump for moving at least most of the used water out of a shallow (10 inches) fiberglass lined pond? And if so, what kind of pump is it (or was it)?

Ours looks kind of like this picture...

I don't have a pond, but it seems the least expensive way is siphon with a hose. that's how we empty our above ground pool, and it's easy, just not as quick as a pump

Thanks, everyone! I think I could siphon it out - my place is on the side of a hill, like stair steps. The pond (it is so small, pond is too big a word - it is an irregular 5 or 6 ft diameter liner that I will be half-burying with stones around it) is a higher elevation than most of my gardens, which would probably appreciate the nutrient-rich water.

mac,

what kind of equipment and skill and materials would I need to install a drain in a fiberglass liner without ruining it?

I have skills, and I have equipment, but they have nothing to do with refitting fiberglass.

It's just a matter of cutting a hole in it and fitting a drain. The drain clamps to both sides of a rough cut hole. You can cut a hole with a hole saw or a drill and a saber saw. I looked around online and the drains seem to be common parts. It looks like you could even hook up an underground line to carry off the water wherever you'd want it to go:
