Maran and....?

This baby is supposed to be a black copper maran, but has a pea comb which apparently isn't a maran thing. Any ideas what the mix could be? Here are the other chickens I remember that the guy had: orpingtons, brahma (but no fuzzy feet here), wyandotte, bc marans. I'll take a pic of the comb as soon as I get a chance.

That was my guess based on coloring because he had some red laced but the comb is throwing me. Maybe that is it though.

Well I tried to get a pic but chick is squirmy. It looks like a pea comb IRL I promise
