Do maran eggs tend to get darker as the hen matures, or is the color pretty consistent. My dads copper black maran laid her first egg the other day and it was not very dark. It was a little darker than the rest of his eggs, but he is hoping with time the eggs will get darker.

It depends on the bird and the breeder... They can start out dark and go light or vice versa.... What line are they or do you know... Valentine hens I have and even some Presley got darker later on.... Also the stress of the first egg or two can change it... From day to day the egg can change due to stressors...
