Maran, mutt, he or she?

Hello!
I was told this "hen" was some kind of Maran...now I am thinking she is a he and a mutt? What do you think. Pretty whatever it is.....

Marans has an S at the end, singular or not.

I'm thinking it is either an Olive Egger (Marans x blue/green laying hen) or not a Marans cross at all. The Marans parent would have to be Wheaten or Golden Salmon or something to throw that color in an F1 cross.

I see saddle feathers so definantly a roo, but I can't tell if he's a mix or not. Hope someone else gets on here who knows Marans.

She IS a he, and a mutt, I'm afraid. Comb isn't right, no feathering on his legs (not all Marans have that but many do), etc.

diffently roo...comb appears to be a buttercup type comb. not a marans (french standereds have feathers on their feet while a standered doesnt). possable mix though

The comb is a pea comb. You can cross a Marans x blue egg layer for a comb like that, and when using a Wheaten Marans, you're likely to have very slim leg feathering.
