Maybe a week. I’ve found two of her eggs outside covered in dirt so I couldn’t really tell how they looked.

Any tips on getting them to lay where they’re supposed to? My bc olive and now this girl both seem to lay wherever they want.

I put golf balls in nest boxes. But the pullets generally follow the bigs protocol.

I’ll give that a try. Those two also fly out of the coop all the time so they might just keep doing whatever they want.

One of our CCL's hadnt figured out the nest box yet. First egg I found in the run, second on floor of the coop. There's going to be a team meeting soon if this keeps up.

My pullet from the same line Ferdinand was from started to lay. I found these in the same secret spot my BC olive lays at.

Have you back crossed the Marans?
I’m curious what the eggs will look like from the backcrossed pullets.
I have a few chicks from a backcross, but they won’t be laying until spring.

No, but I’d love to cross my BC olives back to a Marans rooster to make a 2nd back cross. That was the plan until my rooster died.


Those birds look great. Are they all back crossed olive eggers or first gen?
