Marans in the incubator. :)

16 Marans (and 2 EE x Marans, hopefully olive eggers) in the incubator. I'm not going to number them until first candling, because I suspect only 2/3 or so will be fertile. Last time I hatched eggs they were shipped and I only got 5/16 to hatch. These are my own eggs, so I'm hoping for better results.

So these are the EE eggs, one on day 6 and one on day 4 because it was added later.

The marans are definitely hard to see into, but all the day 6 ones seem to have a darkish mass bigger than an infertile yolk. Pic 3 is a marans egg on day 6. Can't see any veins, but experienced candlers tell me -- is that dark speck an eye?

I think it looks like a developing embryo to me!! Congrats, so exciting!

Saw movement in a few eggs on day 8.

13/18 seem to be developing (day 12) One was infertile or quit very early, we pulled it. There's one I'm 90 percent sure is dead, but it gets two more days to change my mind. There are 3 that I'm unsure about. I couldn't see the nice thick veins I can see in the others. Could be thick shells, but maybe they quit.

So I have both olive eggers and about 11 marans still going.
