Marans Madness March Hatch Along.....

I have heard that they can, though it has not been my experience. I have had a few hatch the next day but sometimes I will set eggs that I have been collecting and then the day after the girls decide to give me a few more very nice eggs I can't pass up hatching so I toss them in.

Is there any way to tell the gender of Black Copper Marans at hatch? I have three that are nearly a week old. Are there any signs to look for at this age?

Pop on over to the Marans thread and post some photos of the babies, it is probably too early to tell but it's worth a try. Besides we love seeing baby photos.

well, you asked

Any guesses on the gender of these 3 BCM Hatched 3/25-26, so they're 5-6 days old

I'm thinking the two on the left are pullets. Their wings are growing in quicker, and showing copper.

Based on the mudders alone.... I agree. two hens and a roo.

here are my 2 little miracles.... one is smaller than the other but yet it's wings are growing much faster (almost 2 fast I hope I don't have them to warm) they where born on 3/24

see the wing feathers? kinda funny looking.

it would be so awesome if I actually ended up with a hen and a roo though!
