Marans nesting material

I am using wheat straw in my nesting boxes. It is to rough. The hay is scratching my color off. Can anyone tell me what they use that will not scratch the color off the eggs?

I use pine shavings

I use straw no problems here

I use straw too. and sometimes prairie hay when straw isn't available. I don't have any problems.
