The comb and wattles are very pale on A although larger than B, no pointed saddle feathers (although a bit early for them) and no male colored plumage on either.
I vote pullets.

Yes.. males should have red om their wings and saddle should be more orange by this age IMO...

I vote both pullets... never YET... seen a Marans mature that slowly to not be sporting red in the comb or especially waddles or ANY male saddle feather by the stated age of 17 weeks...

A makes the ‘honking’ sound when he talks and its legs are huge. I’m guessing A is male

I hope it is ok to ask a question here, I have 2 wk old Maran chicks...is it crazy to think I can tell the difference between girls and boys now?
I just noticed the other day the combs on 2 are enlarging, feathering is at about the same stage on those two and 2 others with smaller combs. There are some behavioral things I've noticed also.

These beauties are incredibly confusing! Both are characterized by WAY too much comb and wattle for any 17-week-old Marans pullet I've ever seen.....but yet, shouldn't there be red in the saddle and shoulder?
