Marans Question About Different Types

The person who wants me to hatch for her WANTS Marans. I think she is on the bandwagon. She said BC Marans, but I really wanted to understand if there was the same value in all Marans or only the Black Coppers.

If it's a fad, by the time I get hens and they start laying, it will be over, with my luck! LOL. Then, she'll want something else! I'm always one step behind on everything.

Brown-Red ,the correct name for Black Copper Marans, = $$$$$$$ in the US.
Quote I saw a few days ago " My first pullet laid her first egg and I ran all the way to the incubator, can't wait to start selling them".
Many BC birds in the US are impure and carry the Wheaten gene.
As you have been advised - beware!

It's such a shame that fraud (of everything) is so prevalent these days. It seems that honor is just not appreciated or cultivated much any more. Of course, there are exceptions, but it's a shame that one even has to make a statement like this at all.

I really appreciate all of the hints, advice and info.

No need to get discouraged.

I'm getting a few black/blue copper Marans chicks from someone I'm pretty sure is a reliable breeder for $10.00. each. However, I ordered them last winter.

I imagine when you do get your Marans they will make great trade bait.

You just have be patient and do your homework. There are some great folks here who love their chickens and could care less about making a fast buck.

You came to the right place.
