I would of course take the eggs as you know you will/did. Good luck!!!!!!!! Bummer about your hatching roo ratio. I seem to have just the opposite luck most of the time. I only got 5 Wheaten Marans and 4 of them are pullets. I only got 5 Cuckoos and 4 of them are pullets. I also only got 5 eggs from the guy you got yours from, and got a beautiful trio out of them. Richards eggs are due to hatch any day.......I am not thinking it is going to be a successful hatch. I haven't taken many out to candle as they just are too dark to see much, but I could tell a few looked clear.

Jennifer, I have the same luck as you. I seem to almost always get more pullets than roos, whether from eggbid/ebay, or different breeds I hatch at home. I keep waiting for that mostly roo clutch, but so far, I have never hd more than half roos.

Cookie the Cuckoo Marans gave me no warning. She just stoped laying abruptly. She's not molting.She just started ruffling her feathers up at me when I went to check for eggs,and wouldn't get off the nest.She just sat there all day long with no eggs of her own.I felt sorry for her.So my friend gave me a few eggs to give her. Maybe pure Americauna,or Americauna x Turkin Mix.

My 2 Turkin hens are on strike. (molting) No eggs there!

My co-dependent chicken friend offered these to me,and crazy me said why not. It's winter here so we'll see what hatches.

I'll post pics! Yep it should be interesting.

Your welcome I have allot of very broody chickens but have only had my two Wheaten Ameraucana go and that was when I was away and my Mom just broke them by throwing them in the chicken tractor for a few days. Now I have a silkie and Marans and more Ameraucana also so I should be in for some fun this spring

Yes it's a fantastic thing!!!!!!!!!!!

I got chicks from Jesse in the late summer and I got 9 pullets and 6 roos, and one of the roos died a month ago. So my luck continues.

I did hatch 7 Buff orps recently and have 4 roos but that is unusual.

I will post a pic tonight of a baby hatching from Richard's eggs. I opened the dang bator and snapped, blinding the poor little thing, before work. I hope the shot came out. I have 2 more pips. Hoping for a good hatch.
