Just had to post - I'm so eggggcited. Look what I found in coop today.

My first Marans egg. Batch of chicks from Jesse hatched July 5th. Now they are all going in a breeder pen so I can sell hatching eggs and chicks. I have two roos, Jesse and James, and eight females.

I'm not sure. Need to wait till they are all laying and verify fertility. The roos have been active with all the older females on the farm for quite some time and the Marans all stick together while freeranging but I'm going to put them in breeder pens and keep them separate to ensure pure lines.
