Marans Thread for Posting Pics of Your Eggs, Chicks and Chickens

Sheesh - if your just going to eat them! I have a 13 week old BC cockeral that is gonna need some ladies eventually...

Eggs from yesterday--the Marans hens are outproducing the Orpingtons. What's odd about that? Well, the Orps outnumber the Marans 5 to 1!

TA DA!!! I got my first grand-egg today. One of Tipsy's babies laid an egg! It was a respectable color too! I cracked it to check for fertility and shell thickness, and it was fertile AND the shell was good enough to try to hatch. I meant to take a photo first but i was so excited to see if it was fertile I forgot! D'oh!

The Susquehanna Poultry Club is hosting a Marans Egg show at there Poultry show March 22nd. There will be prizes and raffles, all proceeds benefit the Marans Chicken Club of America. Please pm me for a entry form and more info. You need not to be present to enter.

Yeah, my hearthroom is decorated in those colors, so the Marans eggs fit right in! That bowl sits on our dining table, and I just got into the habit of putting the fresh ones in there. They match so pretty with the bowl, don't they?

Do you still have the shell?? Maybe that would still be a respectable photo? Artfully arrange it on plate, etc, etc?? Or not...
