Skunks are easy to live trap. Bait with peanut butter and then shoot it while it is in the trap. Make sure you are upwind for killing it. And place the trap where the skunks will find it but you can safely shoot it once trapped. You probably will find there is more than one. I routinely killed a dozen each and every year. They repopulate rapidly.

Add some electric wire around the outside of your pens too.

Anyone ever had the situation of Pullets eating odd things?? I have brought home 3 large trash bags full of shredded paper to use for bedding in the nesting boxes. I added some yesterday and caught one of my Cuckoo Marans pullets eating a paper shredd like a piece of grass.

I don't think the paper it's self would hurt the chicken but just thought it was odd.

It is an issue? Should I be concerned?

and not use this for bedding?

Any suggestions are welcome..
Thanks

My birds will eat shredded paper too. I have been using it as nest box material for years with no ill affects. It gets too slimey to use as floor bedding. Chickens will also attack styrofoam, not sure why but they love it.

YEAH

Stinkers

Thanks Birch Run Farm didn't think the paper would hurt them either, just thought it was odd to see her suck it down like a piece of grass. We use wood shavings for floor litter in the coop.

So far I have 7 out of 40 Araucana eggs developing, one of them has a very unstable air sac. I have two cuckoo Marans but havent candled in a few days, and they looked good then (using a Coleman Cree LED flashlight)....

They were excellently packaged, so given the shipping length, the lethal gene, and the wait I had to put them in, I'm fine if I get 6.

I hope I hope!!

I will get more in Spring if it doesnt work, if I can stand to. I have to make sure I am a good chicken home again (after the losses due to this nasty, sneaky predator(s).)

Thanks for asking!

They are definitely a LOT of work, getting one more batch this year trying to get my tufted rumpless. My fourth batch from 3 different sources. Just don't give up
