I don't care about the breeding aspect, of the blues ... I just want to know what the heck I have, at this point!

Yeah.... blue is like that... My thoughts exactly... I have the recipe down for my cochins...I have had them for quite a while... I really only have one GREAT hen that is properly laced but they are just for me to look at ..... I think the fluffy butts and feathery feet in blue are worth it... Exept for one blue hen and one splash (the one in the pic) I am not messing too much with the blues... been there done that... Too much variation as it is. Let the experts deal with that!!!
I don't know how the egg color is coming from the blue to black either.... 1/4 of the offspring are black so since the egg color is not as good as BC I wonder how the egg color comes out off of a blue line... That is a question for Pinkchick.. Hey Pinkchick you out there???

I would wait and see what the birchen turns in to. I don't know if that is barring on his shoulders or not. he does have a spec of red or something, which is not so great, but I would wait and see how that one matures.
Just my opinion. But I like the birchens. I wish more people were breeding them.

Ya know, I might just do that ... he really is good sized, and (I think) kinda pretty! Maybe I won't eat him, just yet ....

Good grief, you all are way ahead of me and I missed alot of good stuff. BTW Kathy, I think your BCM Roos's are wonderful! And the Splash and Blues are making me jealous!

I know Geebs looks blue but the blue genetics don't lie. If geebs breeds her to a black and gets blue everytime then she is a splash. I guess that is the ultimate test huh?
What about the leg feathering? Someone posted as to why the legs of their blues didn't have feathers. Is the leg feathering not common yet in the blues? How about in the GCM's
Number 2 pic looks like a splash to me--IDK look at the dark blue feather sticking out of the lighter color. Is that splash or still a blue or will Kathy need to breed before she knows?

Good morning Rustywoman!!! okay now for the question....Is there any blue birds with pink legs and a white beak???? C'mon Pinkchick... where are you when I have a blue question....???
