The jungle fowl, or the jungle fowl's ancestor, kept it warm. Even dinosaurs made nests. There were eggs long before there were chickens.

ETA: speaking of which, did you know that even some birds today build nests but DON'T incubate the eggs themselves? They build up big mounds of dirt and vegetation over the eggs, so that the decomposition actually heats the eggs while they incubate. Very interesting stuff!

Gators do that. they build a nest heap over a bunch of dying vegatation and sit around and guard. I am sure some birds do that too.

we got 38 inches ....normaly we only get one or 2 storms a year 8 inches at one time ..... the last few days gave us 38 and we have more comeing
...we are snowed in like the donner party . theres a certan little black silkie rooster that attacks me every time i go to the coop and he will be the first to go
