Thank you for posting those photos. The blue wheaten hen really was superior, wasn't she? I need to get me some of those! Lots of pullets/hens, not so many roosters, huh?

I appreciate you taking the time to do the photos. It helps the rest of us strive for the quality we can see in those birds. Bev was telling me it is really had to get that medium feathering that was shown in that closeup. I guess a lot of birds have too much shank feathering or not enough.

Are there any good shows in MN? I need to find someone that I can link up with. I think I have a few pretty nice birds. I wish there were egg shows in our area too. I am starting to get some pretty decent colored eggs too.

Check with the APA, they online contact information, and I get alot of my upcoming Poultry show information from my Poultry Press, its a newpaperlike paper that I subscribe to, all about the upcoming shows and results across the states, its GREAT!
The poultry magazines put out a lot of information, usually after the show!

Amazondoc! Loved the Pics. I wish I were there, that must have been fantastic. (Now I have to have BLUE WHEATEN) I have not ever, and I mean ever, wanted to show, I dont feel like I could handle the pressure or hang around away from home that long - and alot of other stuff, Like money to go places and stay distances. I have gone tolocal poultry shows for years though. Longer than alot of folks have known there were so many kinds of chickens!! People tease me about it, I get so excited. I am struggling, I know my own birds lines, and they are not show quality- they are close, maybe a couple of my hens, and I mean MAYBE, could show. My roo is a weenie, and his color is still developing but he is not close to standard, even in dignity! He's a weenie, for goodness sake, a lap dog. And he is thin. I may need to get another from Carla just to be able to give eggs away next year!!

I would have to have you guys take a look at the darker Cuckoo Marans girls and see what you think about their body type? But theyre on strike and I cant get an egg out of em, so no way to judge an egg by its color, either!

I so want to promote the breed in some way, to be able to help have them recognized by the APA!! They SHOULD be. They are one of BEST breeds of chickens out there and they need to be recognized and people need to be brought up to speed on the real history and lines of the breed quickly so less knowledgeable people cant be taken advantage of by unscrupulouse people. That wont stop, I'm sure, but with APA recognition, a standard will be more easily understood by the general population....

Uh oh....off I go again....I went to be too early.........Sorry.....

WAY TO GO!!!!

You must be so proud! And such a pretty dark and speckledy thing! With those darker spots, it's likely to grow all round shades of darker too! That is so great! She's gonna be super layer for you! Mmmmm, it's a keeper.

Yeah, you should blow it out, get rid of that nasty stuff inside and keep the wonderful thing!
