Ah willow is a pretty girl. I have an ameraucana that follows me everywhere and is sooo jealous when any of the marans or other birds get attention.

kathyinmo..read your story about your cuckoo marans. Ahh that Rupert is such a sweet smart roo! I have one blue copper roo that is so gentlemanly with his girls and such a great flock herder/protector. He makes sure every bird is in the coop at night and then sits in the doorway on guard until I lock them up. Too bad my blue copper has a tiny bit too much straw in his hackles. He is pretty perfect besides that. That had me thinking the other day, that it is too bad that the standards don't take personality into account. For the survival of the species, you really need smart and protective roos not just pretty brainless ones LOL!

Thank you! His brother is better so this is the one I will offer my customer but just don't know what to charge.

People I deal with would not pay very much for this male as his Comb and wattles have been destroyed.I can't see his legs or much of the chest. You should take into consideration that you should not over charge since he is in rough condition.

I like his copper color too......ALOT.....I also wouldn't worry too much about the comb and like Kathy stated......he IS your cull.
Do you have a photo of his brother the bird that you are keeping to share? We would love to see him too!

edited to add: My culls, they are either given away or sold for very little, and I mean very little. If they do not measure up for the breeding pen, then they are sold or given away for pet quality or layer quality birds only regardless of the breed. When they get a dark egg later on....bonus for them.

Had to share this on the Marans board. I got my first Black Copper egg this morning!!!! Then my daughter dropped it

It was fertile though!
