I like the colors on your little one, but Im more inclined to think she is a mix or an EE, I have a couple very similar...I guess you wont know til an egg comes out of her?? Where did she come from??

Marans usually happen on purpose, with known moms and dads, so you can keep track of what their kids are gonna be like as best as you can in breeding programs...thats part of the reason why the current Marans fad is kind of messing with the Pure Marans Breeders right now...but there are still a lot of nice birds out there...Just need to know there's a huge difference between breeders birds and hatchery birds. You can still get really lucky and get a nice nice Cuckoo Marans from a hatchery sometimes though! We see them here!

I absolutely love your avatar, I've seen your dog and chicks in other posts, so CUTE!! It makes me smile every time I see it, I even made my DH take a peek! (I usually dont interupt his 4x4 stuff).....

Gotta go to a meeting, man work interferes with my internet time....
Tina

I got her from a woman in Petaluma, Ranch Hag Hens. I really like her, I'm going to go to her if I need chicks in the future. She ordered them, I am not sure where from. She said she came with the others. She had EE's Marans Turkens Polish Sex links Buckeyes etc. She thought mabye she's part sex link. Oh well, it doesn't matter, I got her because of the gorgeous pattern on her wings. That would be cool if she laid a colored egg! I hope she does.
Aww, that's great that you love my pictures. But I can't take credit, Bailey just has the sweetest face and he is always doing something adorable! But looks are deceiving, he is a bad boy. He will eat off the counter THE SECOND you turn your back, he opens the refrigorater and the vegtable drawers, he is constantly pushing you over and sticking his nose in your face. But if he didn't do those things, he would wouldn't be Bailey! It's not completely his fault though, he has severe seziers (he had 20 within two days once  ) His medication makes him extremely hungry. He is a gift from God, he was dumped quite a few times before we got him. He has taught us patience and commitment. He has brought so much joy to everyone, he is a therapy dog at the nursing home. He's constently making us crack up because of the silly things he does. Quite often when he's sleeping in the back seat of the car, my mom will have to stop suddenly and he will get stuck on his back in between the seats on the floor and he will just lay there and go back to sleep

Anyway, I could go on about him all day.

CUUUUTE!!!! I love the Mantles... but my all-time favs are the Harlequins. Have you seen the Brindlequins before? They're pretty striking!

Anyhoo... back on topic...
... those are some mighty fine-lookin' eggs!

Thanks for the kind words Tina, I am better this morning. I know it was just one of those things called an accident. And as DH said that was a mistake we won't make again.

Oblio13 that pup is just wonderful, I love it. I too love Danes. I was actually looking for a Harlequin when someone was looking for a home for our Dalmation Jake. Who is 80 + pounds now so maybe in my dog future I will get a Harlequin.

someone else asked earlier what Tipsy was setting on, clutchwise... well folks, here it is. I am kind of embarrassed to show how many eggs I have shoved under her, but it looks like... well... a LOT! Okay, I will quit squeezing eggs under her since I looked at this photo. I am not sure how many of them are fertile, as there are some pullet eggs there and some unknown crosses too. Not sure what I was thinking! Oh yeah, I think it was "More Chicks, please!"

Edit to add: "Wait! There are only nineteen under her. I think twenty would be a nice round number. Maybe just one more...

Gosh, I am really so sorry. It sounds like you did the right thing, but I can't imagine how distressing it was to find her like that. You can't always anticipate something like that happening but it is a reminder for all of us to check our set ups.

Onthespot. I love the tipsy pic.
