Peewee your babies are cuties. Cuckoos? what are the others I'm not sure? But they are sweet

Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks Tina she still seems very alert this morning and she is eating so, so far so good.

I tried to load pic last nite but my reader wasn't wanting to read the camera card. I will give her another good looking over today and see what maybe the trouble with her leg.

Karanleaf, thanks for the compliment. They are cuckoo's. Spaced on that one, should have said in other post. I was so excited to find someone here that had them. Drove 2 hours one way to pick them up.
The others are from a feed store in town. There's an EE, 2 that were sold to me as RIR ( now that they are getting bigger - doubt it. They don't look like the RIR's that I had growing up) and 1 unknown. It was just to cute to pass up.

I hope that every thing works out well with you.

Edit for spelling: I'm such a ditz sometimes.

It's always hard for me to get pics of my free ranging BC Marans because they never stop moving but yesterday was a rainy dreary day and they were all just laying around so I got some pics.

Here's Jesse:

James:

And some of Jesse's Gang:

These all hatched July 5th. The guys are starting to do their courting dance so I guess I need to separate them into breeder pens. All of my other freeranging flock start laying at 4 months and these are showing signs.

what a great looking bunch of birds! VERY consistent to type and feather color. You are off and running... DO post pics of your eggs! And put me on your list, if you have one.

Ruth very handsome Roos and the girls are nice too.

PeeWee you are welcome they just looked like my Cuckoos when they were cute little fuzzies. The get big fast though. This morning I noticed one of my Roos Schultzie was trying to get friskie with a pullet after I let them outside. So I may have some eggs to offer next year, we'll see what colors they are laying first.

Onthespot I am still in love with that hen on your avitar

Opps, My Bad, sorry, I didn't mean to give him a complex. Just love that photo. He sure has gotten to be Handsome. It was a younger photo of him so that why I took it, he was a she. Sure would be great to have some like that running around my place wow.

Thank you. Jesse has a lot more copper coloring than James. Jesse's front is all copper. Are they both consistent to type? I really have no idea. The females are all pretty identical except one that doesn't have much copper on her, she's almost all black.

I got them from Black Copper King, here on BYC. Mr. Jesse is a wonderful man who recently had open heart surgery. I wish him all the best.

I originally wanted Marans simply to add the dark eggs to my egg basket. But once I saw how much they were selling for and selling chicks for, I think I better rethink just eating them. Guess I need to build breeder pens and sell hatching eggs and chicks.

I'll start a list if anyone else wants them. The roos are already doing their thing so it shouldn't be long - just need to get them separated before any of the other 14 free ranging roos get to these girls.

Karanleaf, please keep me in mind when you are starting to sell your eggs!! Just thinking into the future. Diversity if the flock and all!!!

They absolutely are and don't let anyone tell you different. They are really nice looking birds. Can't wait to see your eggs!
