One day before she turned 7months my very favorite pullet laid my first Marans egg. She is such a sweetheart. So, I am no longer eggless.

I won't bore all of you with the 500 million pictures I took of my one egg.

Ms Cluck Update

she layed her 1st egg yesterday

and it is decent size not as small like her hatchling sisters were with thier 1st ones. We were beginning to worry that the trama of her injury was keeping her from being able to lay. But now for sure she is all healed,

I am glad ms cluck is doing well I am so happy with egg color and type on these birds even though I am not breeding.

Here are some of my Marans eggs I just set. I don't have a egg color chart yet. You guys tell me what you think as far as what they would rank on the color scale?

way to go drom! Looks like it was worth the wait. Only one of my three pullets laid that dark. The other two laid light. One I kept, one I adios'd, along with my least pleasant rooster. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It looks like a very respectable 5 on the scale to me, and I am very happy with that. I am also really happy that my favorite pullet laid it because she's correct in terms of color and confirmation. Her feathers on her outside toe are too heavy but I think if I want to, she will be just fine for breeding.

I had been thinking all along, it would be just my luck for my best pullet to lay a beige egg. aahahhahahha. So I'm happy
