I'm so excited. I just won an E-Bay auction for 6 of Bayhorsebonne's BC Marans eggs. Now I can add her great line to mine. I know others on this thread have also won her auctions and have hatched chicks from her eggs and those that are familiar with her have had nothing but great things to say about her. And the best part, I was so surprised to get them for only $67, far below my top bid I had entered. Don't know if the price of eggs/chicks are falling or I'm just blessed. Either way I'm thankful.

I have just recently started offering my chicks for sale for pick up only. I'm sure adding her line will help me to improve my own.

nah, just every so often they go low. no one looking. Next week could be over a hundred, or over two hundred. No rhyme or reason from what I can tell. Great for you!

Oh, the teeny waddles are very cute. Does he have a name yet?

hate to admit it, but his name is probably "Outtahere" even though he looks like he might be blue, I am trying very hard to select away from slow feathering gene. Others that hatched the same day have half inch long tails already. He is (of course) the only blue one that hatched. This little clutch of a half dozen birds is the result of an accidental breeding between a Copper Black roo that got in with my BBS marans pen one night when we had a lot of wind. I hatched the chicks just to check hatchability as it was an unproven roo. It is for sure he is the daddy, because of the feathered legs.

I am going to grow them out just to find out for myslef what heppens to the neck color when you cross black based on copper black. I have always heard it was a no-no, so just like a wet paint sign, I have to stick my finger in it to see if it is really wet. I hatched one solid black pulelt from my first grandchicks clutch. She is a great bird, the friendliest one, quickest maturing. She would make a trememdous addition to my BBS flock, so I am not the least bit disappointed. Quite to the contrary. I wilsh I had a half dozen like her. Make that a dozen, while we're wishing! She would be a great way to add feathers to my slick legged BBS flock, while also darkening up the eggs and adding great substance and type, with no faults to breed out. I call her Miss Blackwell because she is either the worst dressed or the best dressed, depepding on which flock I put her in!

congrats!
I think the weather really has an impact, lots of people have temps that are so low if really wouldn't be wise to ship eggs there

Oh, good for you. You know, I won mine for $81 clams on a Saturday night when it didn't seem many others were bidding. I think an auction that ends on a Sat night is the best time to close the deal if the current bid is not already too high because a lot of people are out on Sat nights.

Oh bummer. He's awfully cute. Well, My Roo that had the shortest tail for the longest time ended up growing a doosey. It's really pretty. I don't know if he has the SFG or not but he ended up feathering out the prettiest
