My latest aquisitions.. Not sure what color they are, but they hatched from Black Coppers. Any ideas?
(the white "columbian" one is a cross)

The two wheaten colored ones are.....guess what....wheaten.

It is relatively common for black copper Marans to be carrying the wheaten gene. Yours are both pullets.

That was my guess as well. Now the other two I have no idea on.

Well.....she said the whitish one was a mix -- and the one in the back, you can't see well enough to tell.

Wheatens!

Very cool.. The more wheaten pictures I looked at, the more I became convinced of a similarity, so it's great to get a confirmation

I did find out that wheaten is recessive to black copper, so it sometimes shows up and if they don't have other genes that mess with the color, they are fine to breed.
The one that reminds me of a light brahma color is what I hope to be a future olive egger- Ameraucana/Marans..

Any ideas on this little one.. It's younger than the others. It's the one on the right..

Could this be a blue wheaten cockerel? Part my reasoning is that the wing feathers have a similar look to the the wheatens.. the way that each feather is light in the center... I am puzzled about his head, because the wheaten chicks I could find pictures of didn't have blue or black faces.. but maybe the chick fuzz gets replaced by a lighter color???
