Here's the one I mentioned earlier and I have permission to post one of Pokes79 pictures he posted. ...I thought it was so cute with the birds facing each other.

Since I'm shipping more eggs than hatching......I need to set up a grandmothers page. These are from some eggs of ours.....

I just love to see the baby pics!

Have a blessed day.

I just can not get nice eggs to hatch!! I had a bunch from e-bay and the only 2 that hatched came out of a very very light egg

I just may give up on nice eggs.

The eggs pictured are actually a bit darker than my monitor shows. Maybe the flash washed out the color? However, that said, I still am not overly impressed with the color of these eggs. The seller said he bought his stock personally from Wade Jeanne, and he has no other Marans. My eggs came from these Marans:

This time of year most hens are at the end of the laying cycle so the eggs have lightened up those eggs actually look really good to me and the birds look good to. You can't really expect to get 8s and 9s on the egg color chart I would guess those are probably a 6 if you said they were darker in person.

Good Luck hope they hatch for you,
Henry

I find that the color of our eggs definitely depends on where they are in their laying cycle but also importantly from the rooster that is with them....A lot of the color will come from the rooster.

Also, whether or not there is fresh grass and ample protein in their diet.....

Even though we are in the sunny South, the amount of fresh grass will slow down soon.....

I think the thing that's so important for us to remember is that the egg coloring at its darkest and also try to change up a rooster if you have a spare one to see if he imparts a darker color at the beginning of the cycle.

Have a blessed evfening...
