When I say sparse I mean like a stub and 2 feathers on one leg and nothing on the other leg, ie.. one pullet has 1 feather on one leg, while her other leg is clean..... or another pullet has 2 feathers on one leg and one feather on the other.....
I'm trying to even the odds so to speak and have some more uniformity and consistency. My Bl-Copper Roo has maybe 5-7 feathers down his shanks......I'm just looking to see if I can get the feathering in both legs and a couple more feathers than just 1 or 2. Will it work??? All advice is welcome.

Yes they are all from today, too many brooders and grow out pens going around here.

We have a ways to go before we start culling. I can see a couple of the boys already that will not make the grade.

Hello everyone! I'm glad I found this board. I will be setting some BCM eggs on Jan 1st. This will be my first hatch, so I hope it goes well and I get some babies. I'm sure I am going to have lots of questions.

I'm hoping to get a BCM roo out of my hatch so that while I am perfecting my BCM flock I can also breed the BCM roo to my blue egg laying EE's and start working on some olive eggers at the same time! Things could start getting interesting around here in the fall! When my hubby got me my incubator for Christmas I don't think he realized the can of worms he was opening!!

ETA: I'll post pics of the BCM eggs as soon as I get them to see what ya'll think!

Well I thought we were talking about the bottom chick in the picture.

I will stick to my guns on it being a roo, can't tell on the top chick, although the coloration does not look good on the top chick at this point.

I agree .... already at 1 week! I am logging the progress. I think, as someone already mentioned, that the fully black faced ones are (ultimately) culls. If it does turn out that way ... well, hey, a new way to cull early, and not have to feed them for 6 months first!

I don't know for sure but am documenting carefully this hatch, just to see. I think they show more mossiness, but not for sure.
