Marans Thread for Posting Pics of Your Eggs, Chicks and Chickens

Can some one please help with this issue

Some lines of BC's will and do throw wheaten chicks.....do you have a photo of the chick in question? A photo will help out alot. I have Davis line birds and they do not throw wheatens. I get splash, blue and black. I did have some birds once that were Davis and Jeane birds crossed and they threw a few wheatens.

So is this what it is a Wheaton
All others are the right color
These are My first Marans so this has me worried

I would ask the seller if maybe there were Jeane birds mixed in at some point.

Davis bcs never throw wheaten. Or, maybe a wheaten jumped the fence!

Lol I most definatly will be asking and hoping thats not the case being I was sold these as Bev Davis line and waited a long time checking all that out before buying any
I only want pure BD line

OMG, I am so sick to my stomach right now... I won some Marans eggs from Bargain, and was candling them late last night. They were a week along, and showing signs of growth. In the middle of candling, my husband called me out to look at something on the computer, and we got distracted, and I forgot to put the eggs back in the incubator.

They sat out for about 9 hours in a 65°F room overnight... is there ANY chance they will survive???

I am heartbroken, and

I'm trying to keep the faith... I can't believe I did this.....

I got my first chicks yesterday. Purebred wheaten, black copper, cuckoo and golden cuckoo marans. I also got one white silkie chick and two silkie crosses. 11 total! They are a little over two weeks old and look healthy to me (what do I know). This is my first time owning chickens and I am SO EXCITED!!! I hope to get at least 5 hens out of the 11. I would love any tips/info. I will post pictures tonight!
