What is it with these broody Marans?

I now have yet another broody .... one of my Splash Marans. I thought she was on that nest alot the past two days. I just went out to check, and sure enough ... she is sleeping in the nest! Tomorrow I guess I will give her some eggs. I tire trying to break broodies. It just isn't worth it! I guess she will be getting the Lavender Orpington project eggs.

I would've still taken a picture of it, or at least preserved the shell bits and taken a picture of them elsewhere. - Have you seen how many people take photographs of "Their first egg" - A softshelled splat on the ground?

He does a wonderful job! One of my older BCM's decided that she needed to go broody recently.......after 3 days in a pen with Bill........she is no longer broody!

Send Bill on over! Miss Fattie is head hen here!
Funny thing about Fattie (the light colored Cochin), she got up off the nest to do her business, and did her usual routine. First eating, drinking and pooping. Then, she usually does her leisurely 5 minute dust bath. Since it was all muddy out today, that was not an option. SO, she took the time to terrorize everyone else in the coop and run! I am telling you, it was just hillarious. She would go from one to the next, to the next, and just let them all know that she is still in charge! She sure did get her daily exercise!

That was soooo sweet of you to give her those eggs. When are they due to hatch?

Got the second egg today. WOW, very smooth and clean, but kinda small (pullet egg). But really nice and dark. Kind of like milk chocolate. Really happy with my splashes.
