lucky you color coordinated

whoops...posted in the wrong thread....

I posted my BCMs from greenfirefarms awhile ago...2 are definitely males and already started crowing. I found a home for the first crower and will have to find homes for the new crower...the third one that I was holding onto just to make absolutely sure it was a male, is probably a male. If anyone wants these guys (not to eat...) and can pick them up in Los Angeles, just let me know.

Quick question for those that have experience hatching Marans.

My very first BCM hatch they all hatched on days 22 and 23. Well I am now on day 21 with their offspring and no pips yet.

Is this something that is common with Marans? Hatching a little later than other breeds?

All my other hatches of bantams and olive eggers, I had pips day 20 and all hatched day 21.

gvntofly05 - mine all hatch on day 21 typically.

Pinkchick - WOOT on the Harbor Freight cement mixer - we have one in town!

gvntofly~ yes sometimes they can take longer like 22/23 days. it is not a problem. good luck and be sure to post baby photos.

Will do, if they ever hatch!!!

I just need my hubby to get home so I can get out of the house!

Wynette~ I'll be going through this again, this time next week, when the eggs from you are due to hatch!

I wish I could say it gets easier each time you hatch, but IMO, it doesn't!

Yep I do great until day 20. I don't think about it much until day 20 where I start looking in the bator every time I walk past it!

Once they start hatching I limit the amount of times I check on them. I don't want to cause the new little ones too much stress. I just imagine what I would feel like if I walked out of my house and looked up at the sky and seen this huge head pop out from behind a cloud and shining a bright light into my face!

I just rechecked my calendar and day 21 doesn't actually begin until 5pm, so that eases my mind a little more! I'm hoping to wake up to some pips and zips tomorrow morning!
