Thank you Wynette. I went and looked at it and am I correct in that to show a Marans at an official show that the person showing has to have bred Marans for at least 5 years?

I just went I read it they need 5 exhibitors that have raised that color for 5 years to sign so you could exhibit just not sign-my understanding is they need the birds at the show so if 25 people showed and 7 did the 5 years or more...and that is per color it's going to take more than 5 yrs to get 'er done me thinks with there being so many off standard birds maybe in 3 years I'll have some to show of my goldens then I need 4 other people to show 2 years in a row who have raised them for 5 yrs ugggh it gonna be tough

Thank you, that makes sense. The other issue is location. Not one of them is local or remotely close to where I live. Long distance travel with chickens would not be fun.

So you have Golden Cuckoo Marans? Me too! I have 1 roo and 4 hens. Do you have pics of yours because I would like to see if your hens are bigger than mine. Mine seem small to me but I am comparing them to the BCM's.

I love the color on them though and I haven't gotten any eggs yet but soon I hope

I only have one golden pullet close to lay all her hatch mates are laying she came from MMc and started the whole deal of getting into goldens....she's very big bigger than any of my Dellie pullets that are the same age and the roo is just as big as the Dellie roo he has just light golden tints to his hackles almost like brassiness I only kept him because he was the only one like that and big and very nice I have 2 golden roos but they are babies and 6 or 7 baby girls I don't think they will lay until next spring and I have some silver cuckoos that came from real dark eggs that might start laying this fall and I'm not sure how big they will be yet.

Murray McMurray I was just trying out some different breeds this spring I had Buff Laced and bearded Polish before.....beauties but I never bonded with them the kids showed them in 4-H and did well and I went 10+ years without chickens as my hubby wasn't good about checking them when I was gone to Horse shows and I was showing all the time when the kids were gone so when the last chickens were gone I really didn't care...

That hen was brownish compared to the others and I figured a cull but she was so buff and the only hen with pure white shanks too as is the roo I kept I figure she's a Braden bred one but who knows for sure she knows she's special my Golden Girl....

baby pullet

Some of my Goldens came from Lori thanks to Geebs the enabler

most of my Golden pullets came from dark eggs from a seller off EBAY that has very nice birds compared to the ones I bought from other bigger name breeders
and the nicest Marans were from wolfcreekfarmandforge she's on here sometimes very nice

Another shot of my Frenchy Pierre you have to excuse his messed up feathers he just didn't keep his do when in the Bachelor digs one of the Partridge Rocks was very mean (since left this earth for a better place)

LOL, Geebs the enabler! Yes I know her!

Your chickens are wonderful, thank you for the pics!

Your silver cuckoo is big, and he has feathered shanks! My Goldens don't have feathered shanks... are they supposed to?

The color is the same for your pullet and my hens so that makes me happy, but I bet yours are bigger.

And thanks for the references of sellers, I will check them out.

Well I will be working on feathered shanks that is the proposed standard. I have no Golden roos with feathered shanks but 1 golden hen with a few feathers and 2 reg Cuckoo roos with nice feathered shanks so like I said in 3 years I might have some good enough....if working on egg color wasn't enough
