Marans

Hi

I was just wondering why Marans are so hard to get? Are there fertility issues or why so scarce?

I don't know... I have two but I bought them from a lady nearby who hatched them. They were the last two marans chicks she had that she was selling. Apparently, they went very fast. I wanted them for the dark eggs like she had. She sells the neatest eggs at the farmer's market.

I only have one hen though... the other's a roo so there won't be lots of those pretty eggs.

Its cause everyone wants them,there the bird of the hour the bella of the ball and they lay realy dark brown eggs...

They are considered a rare breed and are just becoming known to most people. There have been serious breeders for several years and I think they have just gotten their flock where they want them.
