Guess we are in labor today. 5 pips and one hatch. Looks BR x DBrahma.
Gunna go dust out the brooder. 😖 don't want to jinx my hatch so I'll go slow.

One of my Orpington pullets (7 months old) went broody about 2-3 days ago. I have no idea how many she is sitting on. I’m assuming between 2-4 eggs. I intend to put some in the incubator later and was not expecting one this young to go broody. But here we are. We will see what happens.
My banty did that last October crazy bird she was around 7 mo too & had only been laying maybe 2 months She did really well but we only let her keep 1 egg & I think it got chilled during hatch. On the + we got 1 of her babies in the incubator last month 😁

We have 14 Black Australorp eggs in the incubator, due to hatch in 7 days.... This will be our second batch in the last 2 months. (Does this get sort of addictive?) Most are going to friends, though we hope to keep 4 or 5 pullets.

It's time for a bigger coop.... :jumpy
It’s definitely addictive. I’ve got a dozen jumbo coturnix quail eggs in the bator now due to hatch 3-15, just had 6 chicks hatch Mon-Tues + 2 hatch 1-30 & 1-31. My hatches have been back to back, my first ever being the January hatch 🤣. This time I’m going to have a staggered hatch. I’ve got a dozen Celadon coturnix eggs coming in this week. I really may be addicted because I’ve already signed committed to the Easter HAL too 🤪 I mean it gave me a reason to hatch out some of my own EEs 😂 sounds logical to me 🤷‍♀️ I’m dying to hatch out my Ameraucana’s eggs I may or may not have also made the mistake of going to tsc not realizing chick days had started & picked up 4 Asian Black chicks too 🤣🤪
But they’re for meat & the quail are too. We’re rebuilding our chicken flock from a predator attack. At least that’s what I tell the hubs 🤷‍♀️

5 days?? Oh wow! You should ask for a refund…that’s so lame and frustrating :-(
I’ve been debating it. I completely understand the USPS situation since I ship numerous packages for my business and have no issues with that side of things. But as a business specifically selling hatching eggs, why the f would you send them off Saturday?!? Email and say you need an extra few days before shipping if you need to collect eggs…

Yeah I agree, if you are in the business of shipping eggs…you probably should know better than to send them off on a Saturday.
