My mother and granmother have covid and I was negative so i moved and mother put eggs in lockdown i can come home Tomorrow.. i do last candle when they were 14 dsys and i think 6 or 7 were alive and good my mother and granmother are fine they have just temperature for 1 day and are fine now

Lockdown for the first set of March eggs.
9 Littles made it this far and we’ll see how many hatch.

DAY 12 for the second set. All looking good so far.

8 Polish eggs went into lockdown today, all are active and air cells look good, just got to wait and see! 1 Tolbunt, 2 Blue, 2 Chocolate, 1 Buff-laced, and 2 Cuckoo. And another 3 Tolbunts plus 14 assorted Silkies in the incubator on day 13, because I am addicted and somehow keep acquiring more eggs

We have two babies and one on the way!! I got a brooder plate and I’m not sure if they’re warm enough? How do you know where to start the height?

I set it up at an angle so their back can reach it.

I put about an inch and a half height at the back and a little bit higher at the front that way the chicks can decide how much heat they want. You’ll have to stuff them under there a few times until they get that’s where the heat is. I actually sleep out in the living room where the brooder is the first few nights as I have more than once found a chick outside the heat start chirping because it can’t find its way back in the dark. They get the hang of it pretty quick though.
Also if it’s too high they’ll complain and chirp if they’re cold.

Okay I was worried I was doing it wrong cuz they kept wandering back out and then cheeping and cheeping I feel better knowing that’s normal
