I set it up at an angle so their back can reach it.We have two babies and one on the way!! I got a brooder plate and I’m not sure if they’re warm enough? How do you know where to start the height?
I put about an inch and a half height at the back and a little bit higher at the front that way the chicks can decide how much heat they want. You’ll have to stuff them under there a few times until they get that’s where the heat is. I actually sleep out in the living room where the brooder is the first few nights as I have more than once found a chick outside the heat start chirping because it can’t find its way back in the dark. They get the hang of it pretty quick though. We have two babies and one on the way!! I got a brooder plate and I’m not sure if they’re warm enough? How do you know where to start the height?
Okay I was worried I was doing it wrong cuz they kept wandering back out and then cheeping and cheepingI put about an inch and a half height at the back and a little bit higher at the front that way the chicks can decide how much heat they want. Also if it’s too high they’ll complain and chirp if they’re cold.
