March 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I don't have any of those things available. I went with the painter's tape since it seemed like the easiest to work with and to have enough stiffness to not need a cardboard liner.

Thank you. That's one of the reference I used to figure this out.

Here are some photos:

You can see that her leg and foot were wonky from the moment of hatching.

In this photo she's got the hobble on (it came off at some point during the day so I don't know how long she had it before I replaced it). The foot is turned sideways and sort of folded up.

I tried to place the toes in the most natural position possible, using her other foot as a reference.

With shoe and hobble. I had to cut another little strip of painter's tape to secure the lose edge after I trimmed it away from her ankle.

Looks great and she seems to be getting around OK😊

Loving the chick pics! Can't wait for mine to start hatching! We're on day 15 here and I had a few questions.... I see movement in 7/9 eggs and of the other 2 I think one is still on track but one's air cell is much smaller than all the others with no movement... is it safe to say this one isn't progressing and stopped developing? I'll attatch pictures of that one and one of the definitely living babies. My next question is does the air cell on the living egg look big enough for day 15 or should I try to lower humidity a little? It's been difficult to keep it at 50% and usually it hovers around 54-55% (we live in very humid hawaii). Also... I had to take my oldest to urgent care for a skateboarding accident and my mother let my next oldest look at the eggs and he bumped one with the incubator lid and cracked it a little bit. It was almost unnoticeable except when I candled it I could see the little cracks. I used candle wax to seal it but just hoping that was enough and I did it soon enough that it will be okay. I still see the chick movement in that one so 🤞

First picture is the egg with what seems to be a much smaller air cell and second picture is an egg with a very active baby inside.

She looks quite grumpy about the shoe 😆

It looks like I can join the March hatch-a-long! 13 Porcelain d'uccles and 3 Gold Neck d'uccles!
I hadn't planned on hatching until April...but then WVduckchick posted an auction for some beautiful Porcelain d'uccles and she got me! lol

Fun! I just hatched some porcelain d’Uccles on Tuesday and Wednesday! They’re SO tiny! Out of 13 shipped eggs, 3 survived and one of them is a bit iffy still. I sure hope at least one is a girl 🥰 Can’t wait to see your babies!!

Looks like the humidity is too high. I am in Hawaii as well and I dry incubate because of this. Without any water in the incubator at all, my humidity runs 25% to 45%. What incubator do you have? Some brands are better than others at keeping the humidity stable.
I add water at day 19 or the first pip, whichever comes first.
You can try pulling out all the water and see what your humidity runs without it.
Also important to have an independent salt tested hygrometer for humidity accuracy.

Can you post photos of the other eggs the ones that look better to you?

Candle wax works for cracks. You can also use nail Polish. I prefer liquid bandage.

Hope your daughter is OK!😊
