Here is what I have set for March Hatches

10 barnyard mixes - due March 4
11 Brahma - due March 4
4 Mixed Bantam Cochins - due March 6
3 Muscovy - due March 16
12 Jersey Giant - due March 13
5 Calico Bantam Cochin - due March 17
43 Barnyard Mix - due March 17

These will be set tomorrow or Saturday
16 Salmon Faverolles - due March 18/19
8 Mille Fleur Cochins - due March 18/19

I have another 18 Jersey Giants and 12 Calico & Mille Fleur bantam cochin eggs I am waiting on to be shipped or arriving here.

I had a major oops today. I dropped a tray of eggs that I was moving to a lower rack in the incubator. I lost a bantam cochin egg, a Brahma egg, and 2 barnyard mix eggs. I was so mad at myself. My punishment is I am not allowed to buy any more hatching eggs until June.
I have some eggs that are owed to be including some peafowl eggs I bought on presale.

I've just set 7 eggs for my first ever hatch. Hoping to get some olive egger babies! My roo was an olive egger and I'm hatching 4 welsummer hen eggs, 2 buff orpington hen eggs and I have 1 EE egg. If I put these in last night around 5pm would it hurt to add another EE egg that was laid this morning? It's about 9am now. View attachment 3003852
A few hours less than 24 won't matter.

That is a lot of chickens! I’m very jealous! 😬

I am sorry your dropped eggs! 😢😢 I like your punishment, perfectly appropriate! 😍

I am hoping to have some to sell at the swaps come spring. Maybe list some on Craigslist too.

My husband thinks my not buying hatching eggs is a great idea too, but he just wants my hatching egg money so he can go flying.

I set 96 eggs from my 4 breeding groups. All wheaten Sulmtaler. Let's see how many will develope. My rooster from the blue group had to be exchanged as he had 0% fertility in my February hatch (which happens to be in about a week). So there might be a lot of non fertile eggs there.

The 0% rooster. What was his issue? Was he old? I ask because I just threw out 16 eggs at 10 days in. Same deal, 0%. My rooster is just under 2 years old.

Haha, it’s totally fine when it’s THEIR hobby they spend money on! 😆

I have a rooster that is shooting blanks so far too. I’m not sure if he’s not connecting successfully or if he’s infertile? Mine are both only about 7 months old so it may just be that they’re too young? I hope that’s it, as I’d love to hatch some of their babies!

I hatched a lot of good chicks off him last year. It was a huge shock to see all those infertile eggs.

Day 14 of the Sebastopol incubation, #3 and #4 never developed but #1 and #2 are thriving ... pictures do not do them justice ...

#1 was doing somersaults (literally), #2 was flexing it's lil legs again and again
