The 0% rooster. What was his issue? Was he old? I ask because I just threw out 16 eggs at 10 days in. Same deal, 0%. My rooster is just under 2 years old.
Stress, change in food, storms, leaf blew across the yard. can cause the fertility problem. With some breeds, the butt fluff blocks him from getting the job done. I know bantam Cochins need a bit of a trim of the butt fluff.

So regular sized Cochins need some trimming?

I have a rooster that is shooting blanks so far too. I’m not sure if he’s not connecting successfully or if he’s infertile? Mine are both only about 7 months old so it may just be that they’re too young? I hope that’s it, as I’d love to hatch some of their babies!
It could be too much fluff in the trunk... start of breeding season I had 1% fertility so I gave the hens a trim and tidy up on their behinds and within a week fertility was 100%

I honestly hadn’t even considered that, but you may be right! I have a lot of very fluffy butted ladies! I will see if I can get some fluff trimmed! Thanks!

My guess is that he is too big and overweight. He just loves eating. He was always a big boy.. yes he calls his girls but then eats too. I have tried putting him on a diet which somewhat worked. But as soon as he was with the girls and there was more feed he ate more than it iwas good for him. I really think I need to invite him for supper.
