March 2023 hatch-a-long

No, the shadowing you see is what is yellow. As of about 2-3 hours ago it was still moving. I took a picture then too to show what it looked like. I haven’t since looked at it. I’m trying to leave it be as best as I can. But the dark line has gotten bigger but I’m not even sure what it’s from. There isn’t blood or anything there. You can see though from the first set of pics the change. I’m new to all of this but I didn’t see it in my last hatch and everyone I have talked to isn’t sure and all the looking around on the web has led me to nothing.

Also to add when I looked at it I seen a beak inside the air cell and I heard tapping. But it ended pretty quickly, however there is still movement. So I am at a complete loss.
Huh it does seem strange. My only guess would be some sort of crack in the egg and the membrane around the air cell is drying out? Again just trying to think of ideas on what could have caused it. Not basing it on any experience or reading :) hopefully it’s close to breaking free and all works out well!

What are the main causes for late quitter

I put in 23 eggs in the incubator 3 weeks ago
Pulled 2 blood rings. 2 not fertilized, 3 quitter around 10 days

16 went into lockdown with 3 that's questionable ( no movement or didnt look as developed but still saw viable veins )
Between day 21 and 22, 9 chicks hatched with one stuck to the shell half zipped but I helped out after 24 hrs.
I candled again last night and pulled 3 that's definitely not looking good
The other 4 looks full but I don't see any movements and no pip or chirp

I'm wondering how I can improve my hatching rates
I use an old hovabator, auto turner.
I tried to do dry incubating but house is too dry this time of the year and humidity fluctuate between 10-30 during incubation
I added water at lockdown and kept it at 30 before hatching

What are the common cause for late quitters ?

Thank you

I think my hatching is done
9/16 ( maybe 13 because I left 3 that was quite questionable in at the lockdown )

what do you recommend for nonslip padding in the NR360? I’m going into lockdown but don’t have any shelf liner except one that is solid. I assume that won’t work as it will inhibit air circulation. Are there any other things that might work?

Honestly, I don't use anything and I haven't had any issues with spraddle-legs.

The perforated plastic seems to give them plenty of grip and I often leave the early hatchers in the incubator for 24 hours or more.

I honestly have no idea! I do hope the little one figures it out. The blood veins are still looking about the same and there is still some movement. Part of me want to help the little one but 1) how? I don’t really know what’s going on and 2) how much good would it do anyway? Probably none as it would still need to absorb the blood vessels and yolk.
