I have one dozen and a half pekin and appleyared mix set and half a dozen pekin and runner, (boy what a mix lol) they are due to hatch on the 19th of march I hope they all do well.

I just did the same thing when I turned the eggs. (sniff..sniif ...sniff) so far, they smell the same like day 01. I cross my fingers.

Well, I just set eggs for the 2nd time. This time I have 12 of my mutt eggs (rir? x SLW), 5 BCM, 5 cucko maran, and 8 ee I got from ChickyTocks.

DANG!!!

I just realized I will be out of town when they are supposed to hatch. Well, I guess its a good thing the wife will be here. I never ever think things through entirely.

Hello fellow hatchers....I just stuffed the bator! I have a genesis that says holds 42 with turner in. So I put 55 in. I had to...every body was SOOO good to me and sent extras! what else could I do

A dozen salmon faverolles eggs just went into lockdown. Wish them luck! Also, wish me luck in getting into a better place to keep chickens. Chances are I will be raising them the first 2 weeks until sexed and then selling them all. ::sigh:: Thus is life.

Top Hat's due the 6th, I'm getting excited to see these little one's. I set 18 and lost 5 due to lack of development, I set another 14 Ameraucana Bantams on the 24th, should be due St. Patty's Day. I am wondering if I am counting day's wrong, do I count the day I set as day one? I set my eggs in the AM for both batches. Right now I have 2 bators going, and I'll start another to do my hatch in.

If you set at 2:00 pm on a Monday, day 1 ends on 1:59 Tuesday and day two starts at 2:00 Tuesday.

OR an easier way to figure it: If you set in the am, that is day 1, if you set in the pm, the next calender day is day 1

I have 3 monitors in the incubator and I have noticed that one side of my incubator is a steady 99.6 degrees while the other side ranges from 100.9 to 98.0, depending on which way the egg turner has the thermometer positioned. It reads 98.0 more often than the 100.9 and has dropped to 97.0 degrees a couple of times. I have eggs on both sides and none in the middle since I only have 11 eggs. Is this okay or should I move all of the eggs to the 99.6 side or more toward the middle of the incubator? Should I keep all the eggs together? These are questions that I should have asked in the beginning but didn't think of this until today. I can always move them on Wed. when I try to candle them again.

Also, to those raising Marans...I am trying to follow the article on dry incubation, but read another article that said the Maran eggs are tougher for them to pip..so should the humidity be higher for the Maran eggs? What are you all doing? I am on day 11 now.
