ok so... one more dead... looked like it gave up during incubation because of the HAYOOGE empty space...

see two moving... as its my first hatch im rather excited and soppy that i have life growing in my bedroom...

two are not moving however i saw pictures on http://www.minkhollow.ca/mhf/doku.php?id=farm:candling:day_20 that showed what to look for if a duckling had died... the other 2 are formed and the same as the other two and have been for a while except they have a smaller air sac and i cannot see movement...

this is day 22 of the 28 and a half incubation period...

will they be alive...?

also is there a way to get the air sac larger or will it get adequately large from the ducklings absorbing the juices at day 22...

Well March is nearly over, with just these 2 days left for any hatches. Will keep checking in here, to see who is still hatching. This has been a fun month.

The 'APRIL HATCH-A-LONG come join in' has already begun with several posts too. Please join us there also & tell about your new eggs in the bator or under a broody due in April. I'll be starting a new hatch-a-long every month for this year & hope to see you there again, even if you're just stopping to lend support to others or if you'd like to share pics of this months hatch as it has grown some.

I've never incubated duck eggs before, but have had some hatch under the moms. Just love those comical little ducklings.

Sorry about that one egg with the large air sac, it kind of sounded like an egg or 2 that I had noticed hadn't hatched. I try not to manipulate the air sacs & things usually just work out fine, in spite of my desire to get in & help. If no movement is seen in the eggs, then just be patient for the hatch day or shortly after. Do your best to keep the humidity at the rate it should be & let nature take it's course.

Sending you happy, mellow hatching vibes for a great hatch on your ducklings.

Since Easter is coming up soon, I thought you'd enjoy a festive picture. Here's one of my March hatches, 3/18/10; these 7 chicks are 2 wks old on April 1st. With the Bantam Faverolles you can sex them at around 2 wks of age, so I separated them in 2 groups by my guess.
