March Hatch-A-Long.( How is it gettting here so quick ? LOL )

I'm a little sad one of my little Blue marans chicks is dying as I hold it...it kept needing it's bottom washed since it hatched Sat. so I'm not all together surprised

ack I'm sorry.. that sounds similar to what I'm going through.. except my chickie was shipped. She is just not thriving. She is so small compared to the other chicks, she's still egg sized. I make sire she eats and drinks. vitamins, etc. Her pasty butt is getting better. She just seems really weak and non energetic...

she's still hanging on. I warmed her up and gave her vitamins, she gasped on them for a while I thought that was it but she actually got on her feet after she warmed up some...weak and wobbly though....one of the BC's is getting a pasty too now...we'll see
I did get her to take a little water with some interest but not much...you know how it goes but I still try

Oh! Good to hear, I was behind on posts. When you give the vitamins..do you mean electrolytes? If so, just give a very very small amount. Just a tiny drop. When I mix mine for new chicks, I never make it whole strength. It just seems to put them into a sleep mode. I find half, or even less than it calls for does great. Then I only do a teensy drop for the ones that are struggling. Then go about an hr. and a half apart. Works great for me. Good luck to you!

sadly my pasty butt girl passed in my hands today... she became weak and lethargic today after showing improvement yesterday. I just don't get it. maybe she was backed up internally? I did everything I knew how to do.. I hope you fare better!!

I'm excited to candle tonight. Lockdown is Sunday. I'm really hoping for a good hatch. I had a good number of each of my breeds (rainbow project and Belgian d'Uccle mille fleur) set and fertility looked good at day 7. This time, temps and humidity has been very stable. And I'm starting to collect for the Easter HatchALong. I think I'm only going to hatch the Belgians for that hatch since they are harder to do and I was hoping to do a whole bunch of them this year. Hoping to market them to the 4H kids locally.
