Four weeks old .How old are they?
Candled for the night. For the most part everything looks good. Some things I don't have good feelings about, though. There is at least one silkie egg that looks underdeveloped. A lot more open space in there compared to the others. Like this:

I know that's obviously not normal, but there is still movement. I just hope it's stopped by the time I have to eggtopsy! Ugh.
Here is a good silkie egg though. Can you tell what color they are when you candle, do you think, because everything in here looks black, not just because the egg is full but stuff I can see looks black, lol.

Lastly, here are a couple shots of some air cells, one Marans and one AM. Too late now but these are two out of several that I think look small. I'll see how things progress through the week though.

If it doesnt smell bad you shouldnt have a problem.... Eggs. "Explode" if they are contaminated by bacteriaHi all. I have a quick question: one of my eggs looked the the under developed egg in this post, but as I saw movement, I kept the egg in. I'm now on day 20 I'm the midst of lockdown and I'm wondering if I should have taken that one out. Should I worry about egg explosion?
Thanks!

I had a couple that looked under developed. They hatched just fine, the chicks were smaller, perfectly healthy just small.Hi all. If the toes are pink that would be fine. The color will fill in over time. If they were yellow or green that would be a problem... As for clean faced... They do go through an awkward phase so you never know. See what happens when they grow out. Thanks @johnderosa1. I appreciate your assistance. The legs are slate but toes are not. I'm not sure about the bottoms of the feet. But you are right, they do look clean faced. The third one, which is mostly black, is the only one who looks fluffy at all. Hopefully that will be my pullet and I'll be pretty satisfied. It is a little disappointing but like I said, I wasn't expecting show quality stock.
