Marek's disease: what is it? Marek's is viral and is known to wipe out flocks. The virus is spread by chicken dander or dust. Some symptoms include paralyzed legs, pale comb, swollen wattles, ulcers in feather follicles, and many others. Many symptoms of marek's are similar to other health problems so it is important to contact a vet or experienced chicken expert. There are vaccines agianst this disease but won't work 100% so it's important to know the early signs. The virus can be from wild birds so try to limit contact with wild birds. If one of your birds have the symptoms, give it some colloidal silver and hypericum every 4 hrs, rotate the two. I would like to thank all of the websites I have found useful in making this thread.
