Marek's Disease

Wondering what to do about chickens getting Marek's Disease. I have had some of my chickens get the disease after they are several months old. They get the type of Marek's where one of their legs stick out to the front and they are unable to walk. What is causing this?

Mareks disease is a form of herpes. If the infected hens have ever touched the ground of your property, then the disease is on your property from them. I would not suggest bringing ANY new chickens onto your property ever, unless they have been immunized as chicks against it. Otherwise, you will keep losing birds. It is highly contagious.
